Summary: My first pair of Asics and I love them
Comment: I got my Kayanos because they were so cheap ($35). Best decision I ever made. Amazing support (I slightly overpronate and have weak ankles) and durability for middle distance running. These have inspired me to run more and stick with Asics.

Summary: asics gel kayanos are the best
Comment: I have been running for many years and even though I try new shoes, I always return to the Asics Gel Kayano Series. They are so light; it barely feels like you are wearing a running shoe! They provide great support and are very comfortable. They are the only running shoes I don't have to "break in." An added bonus for these shoes is that when you wear them, they don't make your feet look three sizes larger as most running shoes tend to do. I would highly recommend these shoes.

Comment: note: you shouldn't buy a shoe based on any review that says "these shoes feel so great! definitely try them!" -- b/c feet & running gait are like fingerprints & snowflakes: no two are alike, and what works for one reviewer simply may not work for you. get fitted at a running specialty store, find a shoe that works, buy the shoes (support your local running shop! thank them for their precise and accurate fitting and gait assessment!), and then buy a back-up pair or replacement pair online!

my feet are tricky to fit-- i supinate (have a tendency to walk on the outside of my foot, which affects my running gait as well), but my arches have begun to fall from years of walking barefoot or in flat-structured shoes & flip-flops. trying to find a shoe to fit my weird feet has definitely been trying, especially given the fact that problems in fit generally don't reveal themselves until you've gotten some miles in, at which point you can't really return a disappointing shoe.

but the kayano xii's i got about a year and a half ago fit well in the shop, fit well on the treadmill, and fit well for the next 300 miles. i think they're designed for overpronators (hence the wedge of extra support in the arch), but they do seem to work for my (weird) feet also. they felt soft & supple on my feet but offered enough support that my feet and legs didn't feel totally wrecked by the mileage i log on the concrete & asphalt of my city. i felt so comfortable in them that i finally began competing again, running races b/t 3.1 and 10miles, with mileage of 25-30 miles per week. actually, at about 200mi, i also slipped a pair of superfeet insoles in there to extend the life of the shoe a little bit, and i got another hundred miles or so before i really needed to replace them (some runners can get 400miles out of a shoe before they begin to feel shot-- but i am short and take many more steps per mile than some others do).

when i did replace my xiis's, i replaced them w/ xiii's-- and found that the fit and comfort were not as good (for MY feet). i'm combing the web for xii's in my size b/c i just want to go back to the comfort and good wear of the xii's!

Summary: Great shoes
Comment: The Gel Kayano XII's are great running shoes. I bought this pair for my girlfriend who is just getting into running. The shoes are very comfortable and provide stability.

I was so pleased with the men's version that after my first purchase of the XII's, I bought another pair for myself and then the women's version for my girlfriend. She has already ran in two 5k's with them and loves them.

Comment: This is a good looking shoe and the quality is there, but if you're in need of a wide shoe be careful; I found the toe box to be a little tight. I won't be buying a second pair.
